Biography

As CEO of The Cape on Bowen Community, Candy is establishing a paradigm-shifting role model for 300 acres of southwestern waterfront on the only island within Metro Vancouver. In accomplishing a waterfront Nature Reserve based on market value in December 2020, she realized a new economic precedent for ecological conservation and public benefits. She is expanding on that legacy to spark systemic change so that ecological systems can thrive in harmony with humanity, and the planet does not continue to be forsaken in the process of development.

Concurrently, she is creating a centre to cultivate conscious leadership, unity, mindfulness, and purposeful, empowered living.

Prior to her current two foci, Candy co-founded Element Lifestyle Retirement. She conceived, designed and operationalized the intergenerational co-living model after she identified, assembled and facilitated the acquisition of OPAL lands. Her intergenerational vision was applied to all of Element’s projects, and earned OASIS an international award over 950 projects assessed worldwide. She built Element’s brand on vision, purpose and values; was responsible for municipal negotiations, and community, investor and media relations; drove community design, amenity and activities programming, and led project sales, leasing and marketing.

In 2001, she joined CPAC Care Management. After CPAC was sold in 2005, she continued providing consultancy on the development of retirement housing to local and international groups. Also in 2005, she joined The Cape on Bowen and over the years on the project was involved in: visioning; strategic planning; partnership negotiations; municipal relations; project management; community relations; branding, sales & marketing. As of August 1, 2019, she was appointed CEO of The Cape on Bowen.

Candy was mentored in leadership under Dr. John Gilbert, Order of Canada, Senior Advisor on the WHO.

Candy is Vice Chair on the Board of Directors of BC & Yukon Heart & Stroke Foundation, Board Director of Community Evolution, and Executive Committee Member of Young Canadians in Finance. She is also a member of the International Women’s Forum, and titled Top 100 Professionals of Canada.
