Biography
Laura is a market gardener, gardening teacher, local food advocate, and a dedicated member of the Cowichan Valley Co-operative Marketplace (Cow-op) since 2017. With a background in Ethnobotany and many years laboring on small farms, Laura understands how important it is for working people to join together in collective action, to preserve land and nourish communities. In her role as Cow-op’s Community Facilitator, she assists in the weekly operation of the co-operative’s online marketplace, provides communications and marketing support, engages with and solicits feedback from members to grow the business for the benefit of all, and coordinates member-led initiatives such as group purchasing.
