Community Evolution is proud to announce a new partnership with River Select Fisheries Cooperative to further our mutual aim of promoting co-operation and community economic development as instruments of social and economic empowerment.

River Select is a unique example of how indigenous communities are working together to maximize the value of fisheries to their economies by linking traditional values to state-of-the-art co-operative business systems. With its focus on sustainability, traceability, protection of habitat, reverence for cultural values, and local control over indigenous resources, River Select Co-op is a pioneering example of the co-operative model adapted to the needs and aspirations of indigenous communities.

Indigenous fisheries, long exploited by unfair business practices and the lack of local control, are now experiencing a renewal that is geared to the social and economic benefits that co-operation and mutual aid can bring to indigenous communities.
